Not far from our apartment showed a restaurant cfai with fine dining, cfai award 14 points Gault Millau. We, of course, could not pass such a gastronomic attractions here in the evening and decided to pay a visit to a local orphanage for gourmets cfai to enjoy the alpine foie gras. Even now, apparently, a long time will remember yesterday's dinner at Le Mont Rouge of the five variables dishes flavored with three bottles of the local wine. As a luxurious look out the window at the sunset colored Red Mountain - Mont Rouge, cfai in whose honor and was named this place.
Small cozy restaurant with 65 seats, decorated in alpine style, is very popular among tourists: at least dine with us even thirty people, despite the fact that the resort is now the low season, and the people in the evenings, mostly hidden cfai in their chalet. And the prices are not the lowest they can compete with the height of the surrounding mountains.
While we studied the menu, we were approached by a charming chef and restaurant cfai owner Loris Laton to greet their guests and ask if they are ready this evening to new gastronomic experiences. Thirty-six native Nenda consisting Club Jeunes Restaurateurs de Europe ( Young restaurateurs Europe") and held senior positions in the Swiss representative of the association, madly in love with his job, so he prepares almost all dishes, including sauces, and five assistants trusts only snacks and desserts.
"I must touch each plate before it will make guests" - confessed to us chef. Le Mont Rouge came to him from his parents in 2003, and before that the young chef has worked at another ski resort - in Zermatt, cfai in the restaurants known Seiler Hotels Group, and in Ireland, cfai where he went to teach English in pubs. Receiving institution's own father in order, Loris turned Le Mont Rouge of ordinary diner in local celebrity with the author's kitchenette, which was immediately appreciated compilers guide Gault Millau, outstanding restaurants 13 points. Now Chef five times a year updates menu, constantly experimenting with local seasonal products and overseas delicacies.
We booked a so-called "festive menu (Menu de la fete) for 110 francs, cfai and we made a real holiday belly: on our table was visited mushroom soup with parmesan foam and bacon with nuts, carpaccio of scallops in grape oil with petit Arvin mint and lemon, which perfectly complemented the red tuna carpaccio sprinkled with couscous, and even Canadian lobster with red lentils in orange sauce and a main dish of the evening - the most tender beef in a company with exquisite kaniloni stuffed with chard.
The wine list, consisting of a fairly rare and popular varieties of local wine, is also worthy of attention. Loris knows all the local winemakers, and together they come up with their own assemblages. For example, we were treated to great Cuvee Imanolo 2011, derived from three grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cornalin. This wine was named in honor of Imanol St. Moritz, suffering from a rare genetic disease - epidermolysis bullosa, and all the money raised from the sale went to the sick fund this serious illness. We also tasted perfect fendan 2011 and Amigne of Geroud Vins 2006, and remained very happy with how tastefully held this evening.
Le Mont Rouge is open all year except June and first two weeks in July. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the restaurant is closed. For younger visitors there is a special menu (though Loris himself believes that children may well have and adult meals, they just need to order smaller portions: exactly how he taught his daughter to fine dining). Ten meters from the restaurant is Aparthotel Le Mont Rouge for 30 guests. Loris also owns a nearby bistro for 25 people (they have with Le Mont Rouge shared kitchen) and a restaurant on Trocuet - Challet des Alpes.
