The Dutch hospitality industry is the most expensive in Western Europe. This conclusion draws Jan-Willem Grievink, director of the Institute FoodService, at the start of the annual large-scale trade fair 'Horecava in Amsterdam.

Especially the difference between eating at home and go restaurant in the Netherlands is at the root of the problem. "In recent years, consumers have relatively easy to save money by doing more shopping," says Grievinck in De Telegraaf. "At that level, the Netherlands is quite cheap, but the big difference with the hospitality that makes the latter almost no chance."
